Gary L. Mercer, 67, of Dover passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, in the Community Hospice Truman House following a brief illness.
He was born on November 20, 1955, in Dover and was a son of the late Robert “Red” and Beatrice Miller Mercer. Gary was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
He had retired in 2021 from Belden Brick in Sugarcreek after 35 years of service. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping and boating. Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sarah Weigand Mercer whom he married on April 23, 1977; children, Jason Mercer (companion, Phylicia Stutler), Michelle Mercer (companion, Sam Shorb); good friend and helper, Tom; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 6th starting at 2:00 pm in the St. Joseph Calvary Cemetery at Dover with Rev. David Wing officiating. The family will be greeting friends in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
