Gary Lynn DeMattio, 81, of Port Washington, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born November 28, 1942 in Dover, Ohio, he was a son of the late Herman John and Lillian Rose (Kerschbaumer) DeMattio.

Gary was a 1961 graduate of Midvale High School who had enjoyed a long career with Zimmer Patient Care in Dover where he had been a supervisor for many years. He was a loving pet owner whose Great Danes were like a part of his family.

On March 21, 1992, Gary married the former Karen Sue Arthurs who survives him at their home. He is also survived by two daughters, Marcy (Kevin) Friend and Sarah (Eric) Walters; a son, Roy (Kelly) DeMattio; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his brother, Dean (Tammy) DeMattio; sister, Karen (Scott) Jenkins; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Diane Arthurs, Ann and David Marino, and Brenda Arthurs; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert Arthurs.

Pastor Kevin Anslow will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, August 2, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where his family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. He will be interred in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery on a future date.
