Geoffrey Allen “Geff” Geers, 63, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in Amberwood Manor on September 13, 2023 following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover on November 25, 1959, he was the son of Carol Ruth (Schwartz) Geers and the late Charles Frederick Geers.
After graduating from Tuscarawas Valley High School, he continued his formal education at Kent State University where he obtained a bachelor degree. Geff taught math at Canton McKinley for a few years prior to joining Job & Family Services. There, he oversaw the foster program.
Additionally, Geff was a life-long sports fan. He spent more than 30 years working with ESPN as a statistician. He did the stats for the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, and several college and sports teams throughout his career.
Throughout the years, Geff has housed 5 foreign exchange students during their educational career in the United States.
Geff is survived by his mother, Carol; his brothers, Terry (Lori Spittle) Geers of New Philadelphia and Michael Geers of Dover; and his nephews, and great-niece and great-nephew, TJ and Nathan Geers and Kendall and Tyson Geers; his aunts and uncles, Shirley Ammons, Jerry (Sue) Geers and George (Barb) Schwartz.
No public visitation or services are scheduled.
