George Beley, 78, of Dover passed away on Sunday, August 28, 20222, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia.
Born in Badblankenburg, Germany on August 11, 1944, he was the son of the late Michael and Stella (Kilkus) Beley. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Beley.
George joined the United States Marine Corp in 1963 and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1974. He received a bronze star, a purple heart, and combat action. He was a member of the New Philadelphia VFW and American Legion. George designed the Vietnam Memorial which is located in New Philadelphia.
He was the owner of George’s Tavern in Wainwright and George’s Pizza in Tuscarawas for many years.
He leaves behind his daughter; Katherine (Alex) Namath; brother, Benjamin (Donna) Beley; a grandchild; and his niece, Danielle Beley.
Cremation has been entrusted with the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory of Dover. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. The service date and time are pending.
