George Raymond Vandine, age 73, of Freeport, passed away March 5, 2022, at Sunnyslope Nursing Home in Bowerston, following a brief illness.
George was born to Russell and Ethel (Wharton) Vandine on May 13, 1948, in Dover, O.
George served his country in the United States Army. He was employed as a machine operator at Stone Container. George liked to coon hunt and watch MMA boxing on TV. He was a boxer in the Army and an active bodybuilder in his younger days. He was also the winner of the Tough Man Contest. George loved to work on old cars and restore them. He lived for his children and grandchildren.
George is survived by his children Kari Vandine of Freeport and Matthew Vandine of Freeport; siblings Pat (Robert) Chaney of Florida and Betty (Mooch) Mutersbaugh of Uhrichsville; grandchildren Chase, Kiara, Tanner and Madison Vandine, and Dominick and Deackon Miller.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son Todd R. Vandine and brothers Bob and Jim Vandine.
In keeping with George’s wishes, no services will be observed.
