George U. Barnes, age 84, of Uhrichsville, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Truman House, New Philadelphia, O., following a lengthy illness.
Born July 23, 1938, in Uhrichsville, O., George is the son of the late William F. and Muriel (Hatfield) Barnes.
George was employed at Superior Clay as a laborer for many years. He enjoyed relaxing on the porch with his family. George loved his dog and cat Poochie and Milo.
George is survived by his children Brenda (Roy) Ickes of Uhrichsville, Kevin (Pamela) Barnes of Canton, Mary (Elias) Pena Garcia of Uhrichsville, and Melissa (Shane) Squires of Uhrichsville; sister Esther (Sam) Kinsey of Melborne, Florida; fifteen grandchildren Shane Squires Jr., Drew (Alyssa) Dillon, Katelynn (Austin) Albaugh, Jeremiah (Taylor) Beamer, Kathleen Dillon, Dewayne (Heather) Squires, Tricitdy Barnes, Alexis Barnes (Spencer), Victoria Smith, Taylor Auflick, Reyna Pena Stalder, Cody (Lisa) Barnes, Jaci Runyon, Alexandra Ickes and Samantha Ickes; nineteen great grandchildren and one on the way.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by a brother William L. Barnes and a great grandson Kingston Barnes.
Funeral services for George will be held at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville, O., with the Pastor John Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
Calling hours will be from 12-1 (one hour prior to services) on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the funeral home.
