Gerald Allen “Jerry” Spring, 77, of Dover passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, unexpectedly, but peacefully in his home.
Born in Union Hospital at Dover, he was the son of the late Gerald R. Spring and Ruth Spring and grew up in New Philadelphia’s Old Town Valley.
Gerald Allen attended Kent State University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. After college, Gerald Allen went into the Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War and was released with an Honorable Discharge. After the war, he moved back to Ohio where he and his wife started and ran their business for 40+ years until his passing.
An avid Cleveland Indians/Guardians fan, Gerald Allen would regularly listen to the games on the radio in his favorite reclining chair and talk about the team with his family. If Gerald Allen was not listening to a baseball game, he spent his time going to auctions (looking for that “once-in-a-lifetime bargain”), working in the business, and spending time with his family. Gerald absolutely loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Gerald Allen is survived by his Loving wife of 49 years, Betsy Spring; his daughter, Heather Gibbs; his son, Jeramy Spring; his granddaughter, Penelope Spring; his grandsons, Henry Spring and Conner Millsaps; his sisters, Hallie Hawthorne and Priscilla Williams; and his nieces.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 1:00 – 4:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia.
