Gerald “Jerry” E. McMillen, 67, of Dover, passed away October 7, 2024, in Ohio’s Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia following a battle with cancer.
Born March 13, 1957, in Dennison, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. and Alice Lenora (Rose) McMillen.
After graduating from Lakeland High School in Freeport, he began his professional career with Pepsi Bottling Company in New Philadelphia. He continued employment with Ferris Chevrolet where many knew him as a car salesman. Most notably, he was the owner of Bentley’s and currently, J-Mac Auto Detail in Dover.
Jerry loved athletics including the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. His friends and family benefited from his culinary skills, making everything from his famous vegetable soup to creme brulee.
He is survived by his children, Nick McMillen of Dover, Erica (Adam) Miller of Massillon, Zach McMillen of Mineral City; his sister, Pat (Paul) Wells of New Philadelphia; nephews, Chad Wells and Brian (Tamra) Wells, both of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Morgan McMillen and Easton Miller; and his friend, Jenn Dotto.
A service celebrating Jerry’s life will begin at 11 am on Friday, October 11, 2024 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with Pastor Mike Cunningham officiating. Burial of Jerry’s cremated remains will be held at a later date in Deersville Cemetery alongside his parents.
