Glenn J. Roark, age 77, of New Philadelphia, Ohio and a former New Cumberland resident, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday night, December 24, 2024, at his residence.
He was born June 16, 1947 in Dover, Ohio and was the son of the late Coolidge and Beulah (Alsept) Roark.
He retired in January of 2008 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where he was the Atwood Lake Dam Supervisor for 31 years. He was an active and faithful member of the Lake Drive Fellowship Church in New Cumberland. Glenn was the Vice-President of the Atwood Lake Fall Festival Committee for 28 years and was a familiar face at the festival each year. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Era where he was a tank gunner and tank instructor. Glenn had a gentle demeanor who exhibited kindness and had a natural giving nature. He was a loving husband and father who will be missed by his family and many friends.
He married Mary F. (Henary) Roark on June 27, 1970, and in 2024 celebrated a blessed 54 years of marriage. He was a loyal, faithful, and caring husband to Mary all of their years together. Glenn and Mary took a young boy into their lives when he was 15 years old and raised him as their own. His name is William Lee “Bill” Green II, who survives. Glenn called Bill “The Boy”and that boy and he became the best of friends.
Funeral service arrangements are pending at the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home in Sherrodsville.
