Grace Maxine (Specht) Bochsler, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2023, in Park Village Health Care Center, Dover.

Grace was born to the late Arthur and Mabel Swihart Specht on March 10, 1929, in Sugarcreek. The Specht family moved to Dover in 1943, and Grace graduated from Dover High School in 1947. She went on to attend secretarial college and soon afterward secured a position at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. She worked for the federal government for 31 years.

In 1957, Grace married Henry Jolly Allen. After Jolly’s passing, she married Mac Vander Woude in 1966. Mac passed away, and she married Norbert Bochsler in 1977. Grace resided in Wenatchee and Ephrata, Washington for 21 years. She returned to Ohio in 1996 after Norbert’s death.

In retirement, Grace enjoyed traveling and bird-watching, especially spotting her favorite cardinals. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover. Although many of her family members lived far from Dover, she greatly enjoyed all of the cards, flowers, and photos she received on a regular basis.

Grace is survived by her brother, Glenn Specht of Massillon; her four step-children, Virginia Boyle of Idaho, Jennifer Day of Washington, Dr. Philip (Valerie) Bochsler of Wisconsin, and Rev. Steven (Cathy) Allen of Iowa. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tamara Multanen, Matthew Shearn-Bochsler, and Ryan Bochsler; her great-grandchildren, Lucie and Leo Multanen; her niece, Sharon (Rev. Larry) Rohrer; her nephews, Steve (Michele) Specht, Jason Specht and Kevin (Susie) Specht; and her many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husbands Jolly, Mac, and Norbert, Grace was preceded in death by her brother Wayne Specht and her sisters-in-law Janet Specht and Peggy Specht.
