A yard waste site in the Village of Dennison will remain but if there are budgeting complications, it will close.

Grant money has been used to keep the location open but those dollars have now stopped. Mayor Greg DiDonato says the program is widely popular so they decided to work the cost into their budget.

“The village is paying for this for next year. We’ll see how it goes. I think it ends up at $6,800 what the cost of that was. There’s not a grant paying it so we’re just going to let it go like we’ve been doing it the way it is.”

He stresses that the site is for residential use only.

“We do have cameras. We’ve had three issues this year. One did it twice but we didn’t know it until they did it again so they were charged with the court, and we had someone dump a bunch of tires in it and they were charged, so I’m serious when I say it’s only for residential use not commercial.”

Uhrichsville Mayor Jim Zucal expressed that the city would consider helping with the yearly cost to keep the service.

“We want to work together. May be next year we can talk about a budget, Greg’s not asking for money, but maybe we could partner with them.”

The site, at 20 Welch Street, is at the village garage.
