Nick McWilliams reporting – State funds will be used for bolstering food supply chains in Ohio, with some funds going to local operations.

The announcement came Wednesday from Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted.

A total of 75 meat processing locations will receive a combined $15 million in the second round of funding.

In Carroll County, Don’s Custom Meats will receive $250,000, and over $238,000 is intended for Zordich’s Fancy Meats in Harrison County.

As for Tuscarawas County, Jan’s Meats LLC is receiving $176,000, while Sugar Valley Meats in Sugarcreek will be the recipient of a quarter million dollars as well.

All grants are intended for increased supply capabilities and lowering costs for consumers, as beef, pork, and chicken have seen rapidly rising prices over the last few months due to supply chain problems.

Paired with the first round of funding, nearly $25 million has been distributed around 53 of Ohio’s counties with meat processors.
