Harold Eugene “Bud” Hughey, 87, of Dennison, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsville, following a period of declining health. Born April 14, 1935 in Dennison, he was a son of the late Charles A. “Whitey” and Sarah Kathern (Sharp) Hughey.
Bud was a resident of the Twin City area for much of his life, having also lived in the Akron area for 20 years while employed with Bellows and Parker Hannifan where he worked for 40 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. National Guard for 24 years. Bud was a gifted musician who loved playing music with his friends in the Back Porch Rejects and the Gospel Strings. A man of faith, he attended Bethel Worship Center in Uhrichsville for many years.
On February 21, 1970, he married Beverly Joann (Burrier) Hughey with whom he celebrated 52 years of loving marriage this year. He is also survived by his children of a previous marriage, John, Duane, and Deborah Hughey, all of Akron; stepdaughters, Bonnie Clay and Margaret Erb; his daughter with Beverly, Sandie Kay Sever of Michigan; many grandchildren; brothers, Wilbur and Kenneth “Wayne” Hughey; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children of his first marriage, Chuck, Kimmie, and Doreen Hughey.
In keeping with Bud’s wishes, cremation is planned without public viewing. Pastor John Stevenson will officiate a 1:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, June 25, at Bethel Worship Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Worship Center, 634 N. Main St., Uhrichsville, OH 44683.
