Harold Eugene “Sonny” May, age 84, of 80210 Blackwell Road, Freeport died peacefully Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 6:03 p.m. surrounded by his family.
Born June 15, 1939, in Searights, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Carl May and Ruth Hiles May.
He graduated from Uniontown High School in 1957. He retired in 1987 after 32 years of service with S. K. Wellman Inc., Bedford, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His wife of 66 years, Patricia Lou Taylor May, survives. They were married February 20, 1957.
Also surviving are a daughter, Janet (Rich) Butler of Freeport; two sons: Vince (Tammy) May of Cadiz and Albert May of Freeport; twelve grandchildren: Amanda Jean (Chaun) May, Kyle (Alli) May, Ryan (Tammy) May, Jamey (Kara) Boreman, Derek (Melissa) Boreman, Tara Lee May, Trace (Kierra) Butler, Travis Butler, Taylor Jo Butler, Chavon Yoder, Randy Marder, and Mariah Chura; four great-grandchildren: Isaac Kitchens, little Jamie Miller, Addison Boreman, and Cole Boreman; a great-granddaughter, Ellia May Williams will arrive in January 2024; a sister, Judith Tilman of Carrollton, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Sandra Tegowski of Middlefield; and a brother-in-law, Jessie (Linda)Taylor of Cleveland; and many nieces and nephews that were very special to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Russell May in 2001, a brother, Roger May, a brother-in-law, Nelson Tilman; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, in Koch Funeral Home, 216 S High Street, Freeport.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Freeport Church on the Rock, 222 S High Street, Freeport with Pastor Sandra Cappel officiating. Burial will follow in Minksville Cemetery.
