“Together Again”
Harold “Hod” Eugene Huston, 93, of Port Washington died the afternoon of Saturday October 7, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.
Hod was born in Gnadenhutten on June 13, 1930, to the late Alexander and Leona “Sudie” (McMullen) Huston. He was a student of Port Washington High and graduated with the class of 1948. On August 6, 1950, Hod married Mary Lou McCune. Hod and Mary Lou spent seventy-two years together before Mary Lou’s passing on August 16, 2022.
Over the years, Hod worked at Belden Brick at the Port Washington plant and as a laborer in plastics manufacturing and in shipping for General Tire, before retiring in 1992. Hod was an active member of the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church. He enjoyed collecting coins and caring for his extensive collection, as well as woodworking and watching sports of all kinds, especially attending basketball games. Most of all, Hod loved spending time with his family.
Hod is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Mary) Huston of Port Washington, Mark (Kathy) Huston of Port Washington, and Eric (Natalie) Huston of Alliance, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Kenny (Dot) Huston.
In addition to his wife and parents, Hod is preceded in death by son Jay Huston, daughters-in-law: Joette Huston and Carol Huston, and siblings: Dale Huston, Luella Gardner, Rosalie Stocker, Merv Huston, and Robert Huston.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Union-Salem Twp Cemetery in Port Washington with Pastor LeeAnn Dunlap officiating the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Inc., or the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Community Hospice for their care.
