Areas in Harrison County will see funding from the Ohio BUILDS Water and Wastewater Infrastructure grant projects.

The Village of Hopedale will receive $127,596 in gap funding to replace water tanks. Hopedale previously received WWIG funding, but the cost of replacing the two tanks increased. The project will benefit 920 people.

The Village of Bowerston will receive $1,243,240 to replace and repair wastewater lines and manholes, as well as replace one lift station and upgrade another. Upgrades will be made to the wastewater treatment plant. A total of 454 people will benefit from the changes.

The Harrison County Board of Commissioners will receive $2,353,119 to construct a sanitary sewer collection and treatment system in the Village of Freeport after receiving a notice of violation from the Ohio EPA in 2016. The additional funding will help prevent sewage from entering Stillwater Creek, benefiting 478 people.

Other local counties receiving grant funding include Carroll, Muskingum, Tuscarawas, and Wayne.
