Harry M. Nichols, Jr., 76, of New Cumberland, a beloved family man, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2024, at his residence.

Born on December 8, 1947, Harry was the son of the late Harry M. and Armatha (Atkins) Nichols, Sr. and graduated from Carrollton High School at Carrollton. He had also attended Stark State College at Canton to further his knowledge and skills.

Harry led a fulfilling work life, with his career at LCP Plastics in Carrollton and also serving as a former Deputy Sheriff in Carroll County. Harry was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to others.

One of Harry’s greatest joys in life was spending time with his family. He adored his role as a grandpa to his four grandchildren and cherished every moment with them. His nurturing personality extended beyond his family as well; Harry was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His great sense of humor and big heart endeared him to all who knew him.

In his free time, Harry could be found outdoors tending to his garden or enjoying activities like hunting and trapping. He had a deep appreciation for nature and found solace in the simplicity of the outdoors.

Among his proudest accomplishments was his volunteer work at the Warren Township Community Center in New Cumberland. Harry’s dedication to giving back to his community further highlighted his generous spirit and caring nature.

Harry is survived by his son, Bert (Melissa) Nichols of New Cumberland; his daughter, Becky (Rusty) Hidey of Bowerston; his four grandchildren, Dean and Kelsey Nichols, Jeremy (Chey) Squires and Bralynn Hidey; a great-granddaughter, Thea Squires; two sisters, Linda (Lloyd) Mitchell, Betty Smith and three brothers, Jim (Deb) Nichols, Bob (Annette) Nichols and Harold Nichols.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a celebration of Harry’s life will take place at a future date.
