Tuscarawas County’s late-season heat advisory is in effect for a second straight day.
Health Department community relations director Jennifer Demuth is urging residents to stay in cool indoor spaces during the hottest hours and limit time outdoors.
“Very important to hydrate. If you’re a person who has to work outside, try to take frequent breaks in cool places. Apply sunscreen and reapply.”
She also reminds pet owners to make sure animals have plenty of shade and water.
“Keep the pets indoors and in cool places as much as you possibly can. Be careful of hot paws, concrete can get up over 100 degrees.”
Cooling centers are open throughout the county, including local libraries, the Dover YMCA, the Tuscarawas County Health Department, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Salvation Army, and Friends of the Homeless.
