Heather J. Herbert, 56, of Dover passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, August 1, 2025, following a courageous ten-month battle with cancer.
She was born on July 9, 1969, in Dover and was a daughter of Patricia A. Jones Bailey of Dover and the late James C. Bailey.
Heather was a 1987 graduate of Dover High School. For 27 years, Heather worked as a skilled hairdresser at various salons in the Dover area, where her talent and kind spirit made her a favorite among clients. She was also an employee at Dollar General stores in Dover and Strasburg. Heather took immense pride in her role as a devoted caregiver to her parents, a responsibility she held for many years. She attended Grace Bible Fellowship and New Pointe Community Church in Dover. Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, was the cornerstone of her life. Heather also found joy in floral arranging, creating beautiful displays for her home and sharing her gift with friends.
In addition to her mother, Heather is also survived by her children, Monica (Kyle) Chupp of Baltic, Carly (Hunter) Harned of Dover, Jason Herbert also of Dover; grandchildren, Sadie, Khloe and Zoey Chupp; Jackson, Charlie and Wyatt Harned; sister, Tammy (Joe) Elsen of Cincinnati; niece, Katy; nephew, Samuel; and her companion, Richard Kelker.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 11th starting at 11:00 am in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg with Pastor Dan Branch officiating.
