Nick McWilliams reporting – Nearly 18,000 enforcement stops were made by Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers over the reporting period for Labor Day.
The reporting period started Friday, September 1st, and wrapped up at the end of Monday, September 4th.
Within those enforcement stops, 415 arrests were made for OVI charges, and over 2,170 safety belt citations were issued. Another 225 drug arrests were made, along with almost 100 felony apprehensions on other charges.
A total of 18 fatal crashes led to 19 fatalities statewide, including an incident on the Muskingum and Guernsey County line.
The number of enforcement stops rose by over six percent from the year prior, while fatalities jumped from just five last year.
The total number of crashes investigated drop by over 13 percent.
