Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The Historic Zoar Village will host their first ever Civil War teatime fundraiser.

The event will take place at the Schoolhouse on Saturday, September 16th at 3:00 pm.

The presentation starts at 3:15 pm by Ginger Grilli, portraying Lizzie Jones, an abolitionist and suffragist who traveled through Ohio during the Civil War.

Zoar Community Association Volunteer Melissa Dials says benefits will go towards various needs in Zoar.

“We’re raising money for the Zoar Community Association. ZCA is a non-profit that preserves Zoar and we’re just trying to raise some money for a Zoar beautification project.”

Dials adds that the program reminds viewers of the hardships abolitionists and suffragists experienced during the war.

Tickets are $10 and must be ordered in advance. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.
