Nick McWilliams reporting – The two candidates who will square off to replace Rob Portman will be determined in tonight’s Primary Election.

Portman, who was elected in 2010, opted not to pursue re-election.

For the Republican side of the docket, seven different candidates are pursuing the spot, including author and venture capitalist J.D. Vance, former Ohio Representative Josh Mandel, former state party chair Jane Timken, and current Ohio 24th District Senator Matt Dolan.

The other hopefuls are Mark Pukita, Michael Gibbons, and Neil Patel.

For the Democrat Primary, Attorney Morgan Harper, Public Servant Traci Johnson, and Ohio’s 13th District Representative Tim Ryan are all competing.

Polls opened Tuesday at 6:30 a.m., and WTUZ will have live elections results following their closure at 7:30 p.m.
