Hubert F. Egler, 91, of Dover went to his eternal home with his Lord and savior, Jesus on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital.

Born on May 15, 1931, in Dover, he was the son of the late Floyd and Myrtle (Mercer) Egler. Hubert married Shirley Murphy on September 4, 1954. When she preceded him in death on July 2, 2019, he looked forward to strolling through heaven with her, which they can now do. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Krocker.

Hubert was a 1949 graduate of Dover High School. He served our country in the United States Airforce during the Korean War. He retired after 34 years from the Electrical Workers Union #540 where he was an electrician. Following his retirement, he became an electrical inspector for the City of Canton, then an inspector for the Port Authority and for Dover Township.

He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Dover. Hubert enjoyed going on mission trips all over the world. He served with Habitat for Humanity, Wheels of Hope, and Mobile Meals. He was a member of the Christian Business Men’s Committee and the American Legion. He also loved to travel and garden, giving away vegetables to anyone.

He leaves behind his daughters, Patty Wissman, Barb (Craig) Davis both of New Philadelphia, Sherry (Mark) Blumenauer of Waynesburg, Mallory (Miguel) Rivera of Dover; eight grandchildren, Curtis (Julie) Stull, Bruce Stull, Ben (Marcy) Davis, Tim (Vanetta) Davis, Eric Blumenauer (Megan Stack), Erin (James) Waller, Eva Rivera, and Grace Rivera; and eleven great-grandchildren, Graham Stull, Eden, Elijah, Ezra Davis, Krysta, Ella, and Alexis Waller, Jason and Jenna Bluemenauer, Ian and Lauren Vallandingham; along with his brother, Ken (Ann) Egler of Dover.

Funeral services will be held at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory of Dover on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at 11:00 am with Pastor Shelly Nordine officiating. Burial will follow next to Shirley at East Ave. Cemetery in New Philadelphia. The New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors.
