Following a string of events that lead to the suspect’s death, an official identification has been released.

On March 31st, the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office was called to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital where a John Doe later died from sustained injuries.

Those injuries came about after the man had crashed a truck into a New Philadelphia home, then was involved in an altercation with a Sheriff’s Deputy that involved gun fire, and the man then stolen the cruiser before crashing into a parked vehicle.

An autopsy has been completed and through fingerprint, the man has been identified as 34-year-old Matthew Flynn, of Richfield. The cause of death has been listed as a gunshot injury.

Overall, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification is leading the investigation.
