Mary Alice Reporting –
An event to celebrate non-motorized trails will be held this Saturday.
The inaugural Ohio Trails Gathering will be at Camp Tuscazoar, from 10am to 4pm, with representatives on hand from the camp foundation, the American Canoe Association, the Ohio Horseman’s Council, the Ohio Mountain Bike Alliance and the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
The Buckeye Trail Association will also be there, and President Steve Walker says the partnership will highlight the need for trails, especially those at the Dover location.
“There are obviously hiking trails, horseback riding, mountain bike trails, there’s the Tuscarawas water trails that’s handy, and just below the camp, along the river, is the Zoar Valley Trail, which will be part of the Ohio and Erie Towpath Trail.”
In an open space, organizations will be setup and that’s where event visitors can choose a trail.
“It’s going to be at the Preserve Mountain Bike Trail Head which is on Boy Scout Road. It’s not the main entrance to Camp Tuscazoar but it’s closer to Dover.”
More trail developments have occurred over the past few years around Tuscarawas County, and Walker encourages individuals to maintain the trails by volunteering or donating to preserve the activity.
