Tuscarawas County’s first ever high school football tournament state champion visited Columbus Wednesday.
The Indian Valley Braves, who went 16-and-0 and won the Division 4 state title, were recognized during sessions of both the Ohio House and Ohio Senate. Tuscarawas County’s state Senator Al Landis brought the team and coaches, led by Head Coach Matt Lancaster, onto
the Senate floor.
The Braves were in the balcony for the Ohio House session. Local State Representative Jodi Salvo singled out Ohio Mr. Football finalist Grady Kinsey.
Kinsey scored 34 of Indian Valley’s 37 points in the game to set a record for most points by an individual in a Division 4 state final. Kinsey, a junior, scored five touchdowns and two, 2-point conversions.
