Dover City Schools received an invitation to join the Ohio Cardinal Conference (OCC).
It’s an athletic league that, with Dover’s addition, will also include Ashland, Lexington, Mansfield Madison, Mansfield Senior, New Philadelphia, West Holmes, and Wooster.
The Board of Education will vote on a recommendation from the Superintendent to join the OCC at their January 8, 2024, meeting, according to a release.
The timeline includes membership for all sports excluding football in 2025-26, with football entering in 2026-27. Dover will be in attendance at a meeting of the OCC superintendents next week in Ashland.
“The opportunity for our student-athletes to share the field with these competitive schools will elevate our entire athletic program,” said Dover High School Athletic Director Tim McCrate.
