Irene Eunice Lehigh, also known by her nickname, Renie, was born July 7, 1932, and passed away on August 23, 2023, at the age of 91 in the Truman Hospice House in New Philadelphia, Ohio. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments. Irene is survived by her son, John (Sue) Lehigh, daughter; Lorraine (Dave, deceased) Farrow; and her granddaughter, Michelle (Orvis) Campbell; great granddaughter, Jessica (Blake) Burgess; great-great grandson, Damon; great grandson, Brandon Swiney; great-great-granddaughter, Baylee; and great grandson, Griffin Campbell; granddaughter, Maddie (Jay) Norris; granddaughter, Stacey (Joel) Dant; great grandchildren, J.W., Kingston, Mirabelle, and Roman; and granddaughter, Kelly Lehigh. All of whom will always cherish the memories they shared with their beloved grandmother Irene “Nanny”. Irene is also survived by her very special niece, Laura (John) Schoonover and many other nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband John Lehigh, as well as her parents Clarence and Eunice (Thornton) Centoben, brothers, John Centoben, Allen Brinkley, Howard Brinkley, Prince Brinkley, Varney Brinkley; and sister, Edna Brinkley-Garbrandt. Their memories will forever be held dear by Irene’s family.

In her free time, Irene loved to play cards, and every Sunday was dedicated to gathering around the table with her daughter Lorraine, granddaughter, Michelle and her great-grandchildren, engaging in lively games of rummy. She also found solace in nature, frequently taking long rides and enjoying fishing by the lake. Irene’s porch was her sanctuary, where she would sit, observe the birds, and listen to the soothing sounds of nature.

A private family viewing will be held in accordance with Irene’s wishes, followed by a graveside service. She will be laid to rest in the cemetery next to her beloved husband.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Irene’s name to the Truman Hospice House, a charitable organization that provides compassionate care to those in need. The family would like to thank Community Hospice nurses and aides for their tender loving care of our mother.

Irene Lehigh will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her memory will live on through the love and joy she brought to their lives.
