Iris Kerschbaumer, 99, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born March 21, 1923, in Hagerstown, Ohio, she was the last surviving child of the late James A. and Nora Marie (Stoehr) Decker, having been preceded in death by her siblings, Wilbur, Elmer, Lois, Marie, Grace, Jim, Homer, Leah, and Georgeann.

Iris is survived by her children, Dorothy I. Tinney and Gary (Mary) Leeper; daughter-in-law, Helen Leeper; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. On February 26, 1964, she married Louis L. “Pop” Kerschbaumer with whom she enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage until his passing on December 15, 2003. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Elmer Jr. and Larry Leeper; son-in-law, Earl Tinney; daughter-in-law, Linda Leeper; and a great-grandson.

Many will remember Iris as the Avon Lady which she enjoyed doing for 32 years. Earlier, she had been employed by the former Scio Pottery where she had been a member of the softball team. She was a deeply faithful woman who was a member of Roxford United Methodist Church for many years, was active in their Sunday School, and sang in the choir. She was a dedicated volunteer at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison for over 36 years and was a past Volunteer of the year. She also enjoyed travel.

Pastors Jim Manbeck and Ron Heasley will officiate her funeral at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where her family will receive callers for two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to Roxford United Methodist Church.
