
It all centers around Peace Officers Memorial Day – which was Thursday – as first established in the 1960’s under President John Kennedy as a day to honor police officers who lost their lives on the job.
Retired Dover Police Captain and current City Safety Director Bob Everett says any signs of support are appreciated, such as displaying blue porch lights at night.
Everett says this week featured activities in Washington DC and government buildings were required to lower flag to half-staff for Peace Officer Memorial Day.
