J. Robert “Bob” Mackey, 79, of Sherrodsville, died Monday, January 9, 2023, with his wife and children by his side, in Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.

He enjoyed being on his pontoon boat riding around Atwood Lake with his family or after retiring, spending the winter months with his wife in Florida. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and always had the ability to make everyone he met feel special with his patient, kind-hearted presence.

On January 25, 1964, Bob married Linda P. (Simmons) Mackey and together they shared over 58 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to his four children, Scott (Maria) Mackey of East Sparta, Terry (Rahna) Mackey of Brunswick, Brenda (Shawn) Belknap of Bowerston and Mary (Bill) Lyon of Bowerston;  17 grandchildren, Tesla, Jake, Garrett and Nethan Mackey, Lindsay, Amanda and Antonio Carano, Tammi (Mike) Mackey-Shrum, Ted, Ciara, Phoenix and Breanna Mackey, Zach, Brynlynn and Brady Belknap and Madison and Sydney Lyon; Ten Great Grandchildren; he is also survived by a brother and a sister, David Mackey, of New Philadelphia and Patricia Touse, of Birmingham, Alabama.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Marilyn, and Peg and four brothers Richard, Chip, Mike, and Charles.
