Jack E. Norman, 79, of Sugarcreek, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at his home following a period of declining health.
He was born in Gilmer County, West Virginia on March 8, 1944, to the late Woodrow and Gay (Greathouse) Norman and married Judy King on August 22, 1964. She survives.
He graduated High School in 1963 and attended Barber School in 1964 in Akron. He worked at Wayne’s Barber Shop for 7 years in Cuyahoga Falls before moving back to Sugarcreek in 1972.
He worked at Skyline and was retired from the post office in Sugarcreek. He cut hair at Archie’s Barber Shop until he owned his own shop, retiring in 2019. He was affectionately known around town as mailman or barber Jack.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek and the Pine Lake Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Joel Edwin (Michele) Norman of Sugarcreek, and Jody Robert (Tammy) Norman of Loudonville; grandson, Chase (Kayla) Norman; great grandson Braydon Norman; and his siblings, Ed Norman and Connie Gallagher.
In addition to his parents, his is preceded in death by his siblings Mary (Russ) Kohler, Nancy Moss, John Norman, Jean McClelland, and Frankie Norman
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, private family services were held. A Memorial Celebration will be held in the spring.
