Jackie Barker, 75, of Dover passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 in the Community Hospice Truman House following a brief illness.
Jackie was born on November 2, 1945 in Dover and was a son of the late Sherwood and Madge Tomblin Barker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bev Barker; daughter, Shelly Thornton; brother, Carl Barker and sisters, Peggy Lewis, Christine Dallas, and Marie Levengood.
Jackie proudly served his country with the United States Army, and retired from Robin Industries after many years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially following his grandchildren with their sports and other activities.
Jackie is survived by his son, Jack (fiancé, Heather) Barker of Massillon; brothers, Dan (Sue) Barker of Arizona, Gerald Barker of Uhrichsville; sister, Connie (Ron) McDade of Dover; son in law, Brian Thornton of Mineral City; grandchildren, Megan, Justin, Casey, Brianna; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 10th starting at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Randy Chapman officiating. Interment will be in the Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. The family will be greeting friends on Thursday from 5-7 pm.
