Jacqueline Marie “Jackie” Metzger, 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born June 25, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Wesley and Pearl Agnes (Iwinski) Fetters.
Jackie was a lifelong Tuscarawas County resident and a 1958 graduate of Dennison High School. On September 20, 1958, she wed Eugene Donald Metzger with whom she enjoyed nearly 48 years of marriage until his passing on September 2, 2006. Jackie worked at Dover Public Library for 16 years and had, most recently, been employed at Pangrazio’s in Dover. She was also a volunteer at Union Hospital for a number of years. She attended Calvary Baptist and lived a life filled with kindness and compassion. Jackie was especially fond of animals and pampered her companion, Rocky.
Jackie will be deeply missed by her surviving family which includes her children, Russ (Della) Metzger, Angela Bair, and Adam (Verushka) Metzger; grandchildren, Bryan Metzger, Courtney Hidey, Justin Bair, Jason Bair, Mylie Gleaton, and Mika Metzger; great-grandchildren, Nevan, Aubrie, and Brylee; brother, Marion “Buck” (Sue) Fetters; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Lisa and Scott. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Lee Metzger; half-brother, Arthur Hagan; and half-sister, Dolores Orr.
As Jackie wishes, a private family graveside service will be held in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society and Salvation Army.
