James Allen Cunningham, 66, of Freeport, Ohio, passed away May 15, 2025, following a bravely fought battle with cancer. Jim was born December 8, 1958 in Dennison, Ohio to the late James Ralph and Betty Lou (Butler) Cunningham.
Jim was a graduate of Lakeland High School before beginning his career in welding. Just retiring last year, he had worked for Superior Tank in Beach City for many years. He had also been the sexton at Greenmont Cemetery in Freeport for 25 years. Jim enjoyed golfing and fishing in his free time.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Lynn (Demuth) Cunningham whom he married May 23, 1981; his children, Rachel (Rick) Dague, Cory Cunningham, and J.T. (Nikki) Cunningham; grandchildren, Kash and Cami Cunningham and Breeanna and Brooklynn Latella; siblings, Shirley Peterson, Terry Cunningham, and Karen (Ed) Arnold; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings, Ronnie and Bonnie Cunningham.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation will take place, and he will be buried in Freeport’s Greenmont Cemetery on a future date. Pastor Dave Bryan will officiate a 1:00 p.m. memorial service on Friday, May 23, at Freeport Presbyterian Church. Jim’s family will receive callers from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service. Those wishing to honor Jim’s memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to their favorite charity, in lieu of flowers.
