James Allen Golec, age 73, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Ohio’s Hospice Lifecare Truman House in New Philadelphia, due to a short illness.

Jim was born on December 4, 1950, in Dennison, to the late Francis Robert and Sophie Elizabeth (McCluskey) Golec.

In 1968, Jim graduated from Claymont High School.  He was employed at Gordon Printing from 1968 to 1979, was a volunteer firefighter from 1971 to 1979, a firefighter from 1979 to 1981 and from 1982 to 2008, he was the Uhrichsville Fire Chief, having retired in 2008 after 37 years.  Jim supported all local fraternity clubs, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, family time, OSU and the Cleveland Browns.

On January 4, 1969, Jim married Deborah Mehok Golec, who survives of the home.  Also surviving are his sons Richard Golec of Uhrichsville, Brian (Donna) Golec of Dennison and Jason (Andreana) Golec of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Corey Golec, Taylor Golec, Kelsey Golec, Alexis (John) Iacobucci; Chandler (Mikaela) Golec, Chance Golec and Hailey Saldivar; great grandchildren Stella Iacobucci, Dawson Golec and Lydia Iacobucci; siblings Barb Eickleberry of Uhrichsville, Don (Janet) Golec of Michigan, Roy (Sharon) Golec of Georgia, Sandra (SIL) Golec of Uhrichsville, Rose (Steve) Wanosik of Uhrichsville and Karen Golec of Uhrichsville; brothers and sisters-in-law Jeff (Brenda) Mehok, Kevin (Sherri) Mehok and Loften (Tina) Mehok, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a brother Frank Golec, brothers-in-law Don Eickleberry and Ernie Jamerson; daughter-in-law Jody Golec and father and mother-in-law Chuck and Dorothy Mehok.

Funeral services for Jim will be held at 4 p.m., on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville, with the Pastor Jim Manbeck officiating.  Firefighter services will be held at 3:30 p.m.

Calling hours will be from 12 to 4 (four hours prior to services) on Saturday, at the funeral home.
