James Bruce Armstrong, 85, of Uhrichsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 30, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family. Born November 5, 1938 in the Newport neighborhood of Uhrichsville, he was a son of the late Samuel Marion and Florence Olive (Renicker) Armstrong. He was a lifelong Twin City resident and a 1957 graduate of Uhrichsville High School.

On June 16, 1960, Jimmy married the former Virginia Dale Lake who survives him at their home after recently celebrating 64 years of loving marriage. He is also survived by their sons, Bruce (Patty) Armstrong, Todd (Josephine, deceased) Armstrong, and Tim (Eliza) Armstrong; grandchildren, Todd (Angela) Armstrong, Jr., Curtis (fiancée, Billie) Armstrong, and Ashley (Cody) Deems; and several great-grandchildren. Jimmy is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Armstrong; numerous nieces and nephews; and his wife’s uncle, Jerry Harshey, who had been Jimmy’s dear friend since high school. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William “Bud” Armstrong and Marion Armstrong, and sisters, Margaret “Shirley” Kelly and Gertrude “Jane” Long, as well as his daughter-in-law, Josephine.

Jimmy was employed by Alsco in Gnadenhutten for over 38 years until its closing. An entrepreneur at heart, he also owned and operated a gas station, Classic Tanning and Toning, Armstrong Custom Moulding, and Armstrong Realty over the years. He loved doing carpentry, as well as auto repair and body work. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Pastor Mike Wallace will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Monday, July 8, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison where Jimmy’s family will receive callers from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Charitable donations honoring his memory may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare Truman House and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
