James Carroll “J.C.” Perkins, 78, of Dennison, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 13, 2023, after battling cancer. Born January 4, 1945 near Ghent, Kentucky, he was a son of the late John M. and Lillian (Giles) Perkins.

J.C. was a Dennison resident since 1968 and had been a conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1967 until an injury in 1989 forced an early retirement for him. Throughout his time in Dennison, he was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church. He will be remembered for his kind nature, his love of gardening, and the pride he took in caring for his home and lawn.

On June 4, 1966, J.C. married Judith Ann (DiDonato) Perkins who survives him along with their son, Brian Perkins, and grandchildren, Matthew (fiancée, Skye Leasure) Perkins, Nicholas Perkins, and Sydney Perkins. He is also survived by a brother, Don (companion, Kay) Perkins, sister-in-law, Chris Moore, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie, Bobby, Allen, and Dick Perkins; sisters, Jeanetta Mae Wainscott, Sherry King, and Sarah Perkins; and parents-in-law, Enrico and Vera DiDonato.

Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday. Visitation will conclude with a 7:00 p.m. Christian Wake Service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Immaculate Conception Elementary, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
