James Charles Weaver, 74, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at his home, following a period of declining health. Born February 19, 1947 in Newark, Ohio, he was a son of the late Leo Joseph and Isa Mary (Haxton) Weaver.

Jim was a 1966 graduate of St. Mary’s High School before serving his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he earned a Bronze Star Medal. Upon returning home, he began his long career with Associated Grocers in Dennison, continuing with them as Tusco Grocers until his retirement. Jim was active in his community in many capacities, having served as an Uhrichsville City Councilman in the 1980s and on the board of Twin City Hospital for many years. He was a former member of the Dennison Rotary for nearly 50 years and had volunteered with the Rainbow Connection. He also was a member of the American Legion, Tusco Rifle Club, and the Uhrichsville Elks. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends in the Gold Wing Club. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and the Knights of Columbus.

Jim will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his daughters, Mary Ann (Aaron) Hall and Melissa (Kenny) Shuman; grandchildren, Christopher (Katelyn) Cox, Joshua (Benjamin) Goldsberry, Raegan Hall, and Xavier Hall; great-granddaughter, Natalie Shoup; brother, David (Nova) Weaver; sister-in-law, Luella Weaver; dear friend and former spouse, Rita (James) Dougan; close friends, John and Diana Rypien; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Geneva, and brother, Anthony Weaver.

Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass on Friday, August 27, at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison with a military committal service. In keeping with Jim’s wishes, no public visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church.
