James G. “Jamie” Finnicum, age 54, of New Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, February 09, 2023, in Cleveland Clinic Hospital at Cleveland.

A son of Jim and Sue Spencer Finnicum of Florida, Jamie was born November 13, 1968, in Bowling Green, Ohio and was a graduate of Sandy Valley High School. Jamie went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University College of Business where he focused his studies on finance.

In 1999, Jamie entered into the insurance industry and has spent his career as an independent insurance agent. Most recently he has served as the owner of Finnicum Insurance in New Philadelphia who loved helping his clients in various ways throughout his career.

An avid sports Fan, Jamie was a supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes football and basketball, the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers and over the past handful of years has gained a special interest in the Track and Field Sports learning all about the various individual statistics throughout the state of Ohio. He loved supporting his three sons in their activities and also enjoyed keeping active by playing Disk Golf and Pickleball. 

In addition to his parents, Jamie is survived by his wife, the former Beth Bandy; their three sons, Jake, Kyler, and Teagan Finnicum; his sister, Caryn (Brian) Reynolds of Columbus; a nephew Sam, and a niece, Clara as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Jamie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Loretta (Renner) Spencer and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Leona (McKarns) Finnicum.

The family will greet guests on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia, Pastor Rich VanArsdalen, will lead a service celebrating Jamie’s life on Thursday, 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the funeral home’s chapel.
