James T. Beatty, 90, a longtime resident of the Roswell area, died Saturday, February 11, 2023, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover.
Born August 22, 1932, at Magnolia, he was the son of the late James W. and Anna (Rarric) Beatty and was an honorably discharged veteran having served with the United State Army during the Korean War. Following his discharge from the service, James began a long career working in construction through the Laborer’s Local 134 at Newcomerstown.
James married his wife, Loma Jane “Sis” (Goodwin) Beatty, on December 6, 1958, at Magnolia and together they reared three sons, Danny G. (Kathy) of New Philadelphia, James T. (Lila), Jr., of Cuyahoga Falls, and Dale A. Beatty of New Philadelphia. His family also includes six grandchildren, Danielle (Nick) Moon, Ashley Beatty and her companion Tim Kalp, Chase Beatty and his fiancée, Jaymie Wallace, Michael Jones, Talsa Leslie and Celcie Rhoades; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Judy) Beatty and Merle (Suzie) Beatty and his longtime companion, Laura Mae Carrick.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Loma Jane on January 6, 2007, a grandson, Jamie A. Beatty; four brothers, Dale Beatty, Glen Beatty, Marvin Beatty and Earl Beatty and his sister, Charlene Pritchard.
In keeping with his wishes, James is to be cremated through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and his family will host a celebration of James and his life at a later date.
