Jane E. (Sager) McIntosh-Modon, age 83, of Dover—formerly of Akron and Dennison—passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, following complications from a stroke.
Born on September 25, 1941, in Canton, Ohio, Jane was the daughter of the late Wallace E. and Edna (Wade) Sager. She graduated from Hoover High School and earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Akron. Jane dedicated many years to teaching in the Akron Public Schools district.
Later in life, Jane made her home near Tappan Lake with her late husband, Aris Modon, whom she married on July 11, 1998. They shared 19 wonderful years together before his passing on July 15, 2017. Jane and Aris were devoted members of the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church, where they were active for many years.
Jane lived a vibrant and engaged life. She was a member of several organizations, including the Red Hat Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also generously gave her time volunteering at the Trinity Hospital Twin City gift shop. Jane loved to travel, especially to Disney, and enjoyed reading, crafting, and making cards with her friends and family.
She is survived by her two sons, G. Andrew (Lauren) McIntosh of Texas and Chris McIntosh (partner Jackie Kubilus) of Clinton, Ohio; her grandson, Nick Schaufele; and her adopted family: Samantha May, Alivia, Alexia, Blake, Cara, Caitlyn, and Maverick. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, John Hoyt, and nephews, Matthew and Benjamin.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” Hoyt.
In keeping with Jane’s wishes, she will be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Marvin Hohman and his family for their enduring friendship, love, and care for Jane during her time at Park Village.
