Jane Louise Needles – March 21, 2023

Jane Louise Needles, age 80, of Hennis Care Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 21, 2023, following a period of declining health.

Born on March 13, 1943, in Twin City Hospital at Dennison, Jane was one of three children born to the late Walter J. and Lelia A. Sindlinger Roth.

She was a graduate of the former Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and was employed for many years by White-Hanes Optical in Columbus prior to its closing. She later worked for and retired from OPERS.

Jane was a lifelong, devoted member of St. James Lutheran Church in Tuscarawas where she taught Sunday School for many years and remained active until she was no longer able. At a young age, Jane loved caring for her dogs, and working on cross-stitch and needlework projects until her eyesight failed. After losing her eyesight, Jane enjoyed working on the daily crossword puzzles in the newspaper with the assistance of her husband.

Jane will be missed by her step-children, Michael Richard (Connie) Needles of Florida, Jodi (Roger) Eckerman, Julie McKay, Jamie Needles, Patrick “Stacey” Needles, Sherry (Bob) Dunning, Eileen Howard, and Richard C. (Joan) Needles all of the greater Columbus area; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Needles, with whom she celebrated 45 years of marriage prior to his passing on January 05, 2019; a sister, Joyce McHenry, and a brother, James M. Roth.

The family will greet guests on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Rob Eller will lead a graveside service in the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery at Tuscarawas on Wednesday at 2:30 PM.
