Janet “Jaqueline” Dowling, beloved wife of Harry, artist, lover, and a person who saw the best in people and who did not suffer fools lightly, but who forgave our foolishness, passed away with her husband and daughter at her side in the early hours of Sunday, January 8th, 2023, at home.
She saw the world through the eyes of a child but understood it with the mind of an adult. To her, there was beauty in everything. She could see the blue eyes of a spider and the eyelashes of a gnat.
Jackie was born July 26th, 1938, in London, England, when her country and her people were nearly at war. By the age of six, she had lost her beloved uncles, aunts, and older brother in the war. She never had bitterness, and she always forgave the trespasses of others.
She was a person who knew how to be naughty without giving up her innate goodness. She will be missed more than words can convey.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry Dowling; her daughter, Abigail, and son-in-law, Tony; granddaughter, Harriett; and great-grandchildren, Zane and Theodore.
