Janet R. Maust, 85, of Sugarcreek passed away at Walnut Hills Nursing Home on Monday, April 15, 2024, following a period of declining health.

Born in Shanesville on September 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Beulah (Sommers) Flinner.

Janet was a graduate of Walnut Creek High School and married the love of her life Donald Maust on November 24, 1956.  He preceded her in death on February 17, 1996.  For many years, she worked as a Bookkeeper and Secretary for Maust Sohio Fuel Distribution in Sugarcreek.  As a member of the First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek, she was active as a Sunday School teacher and involved with several church committees. She was also a 4H Advisor and greatly enjoyed being socially active.

She is survived by her daughter Jeanette (Michael) Marion of Canton; grandchildren Tabitha Murphy of Sugarcreek, Gloria Snyder of Canton, and Xander Snyder of Canton; great grandchildren Tyler Murphy and Jaden Murphy of Sugarcreek, and Cai Snyder of Canton; and brother William (Jean) Flinner of Walnut Creek.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter Tally Maust; and brothers Larry Flinner and Kenneth Flinner.

Services for Janet will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at the First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek with Pastor’s Mike Gehman and Darcy Miller officiating.  Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service from 10 – 11 am. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek at a later date.
