Advocates are telling victims and survivors that help is available and that they are not alone as part of the messaging for human trafficking awareness month in January.
COMPASS victim advocate supervisor Melanie Anderson says human trafficking—especially familial and intimate-partner trafficking—is something they continue to see in our communities, often preying on youth or those in desperate situations.
Anderson says warning signs in teens indicating they could be a victim can include change in behavior or appearance, unexplained money, missing school, or frequent long weekend absences.
