Jay Emory Veley, 86, of Stillwater, Ohio, passed away on September 12, 2021, at his farm home, following a brief illness. He was born on November 30, 1934 in Uhrichsville, Ohio to the late Roy L. and L. Pauline (Guthrie) Veley.

Jay was a 1952 graduate of Uhrichsville High School, was an active member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church at Stillwater, and had served in the United States Army during the Berlin Wall Crisis. Jay was a life-long farmer, raising beef cattle and growing crops on his farm in Stillwater.

He is survived by his brothers, William M. (Peggy) Veley of Stillwater, John R. (Brenda) Veley of Gnadenhutten; sister, Jean Veley Woolums of St. Clairsville, Ohio; cousin, Dale Veley; and many nieces and nephews, including Ed (Diane) Veley, Shelley Bowe, Kathy (Ray) Vesco, Cindy (Dan Mahon) Householder, Crystal Edwards, John (Jenni) Woolums, Marianne (Jeff) Madzia, and Ted (Mary) Woolums. Jay will be terribly missed by his family and all who knew him.

A private, family service is planned prior to his internment in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, c/o Bill Veley, 10488 S. R. 800 S.E., Uhrichsville, OH  44683.
