Jeannine E. Gunnoe passed away peacefully at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Dover on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.

Jeannine was born on March 10, 1954, in Dover. She graduated from Dover High School and went on to attend Kent State University. Her knowledge and compassion led her to a career in nursing, which she began at Canton’s Aultman Hospital.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jeannine was a loving mother, and her children – Shane (Kelsie) Gunnoe of Dover, Amber (Ty) Starkey of Summerfield, North Carolina, and Troy Gunnoe of Dover – held the highest place in her heart. They are truly fortunate to have had a mother who prioritized their well-being and happiness.

In her leisure time, Jeannine loved to read and found enjoyment in gardening and expressing her imagination through various craft projects. Her artistic pursuits were a testament to her boundless creativity and passion for life.

Jeannine’s adventurous spirit and her ability to make the most out of any situation left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of sharing in her company. She embraced every moment and found joy in the simplest of things.

Jeannine leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. In addition to her children, she is survived by her parents, Richard and Barbara (Bear) Douthitt of Dover; her adored grandchildren, Brayden and Brystal Gunnoe, and Alex and Austin Starkey – all of whom held a special place in Jeannine’s heart; her brother and sisters, Craig (Suzanne) Douthitt, Jill (John) Struhar, and Andrea (Allen) Wilhelm; along with her numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeannine Gunnoe will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love for her family and her adventurous and creative spirit are qualities that will continue to inspire and guide us.

Cremation services have been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover. A private family celebration of Jeannine’s life will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Jeannine’s memory be made to the Greater Dover-New Philadelphia Food Pantry, P.O. Box 95, Dover, Ohio 44622.
