Jeffery Joseph Jackson, 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, following a brief period of declining health.

Born in Dover on June 16, 1944, Jeff was the son of the late O. Wayne and Sarah O. (Crites) Jackson.

A 1962 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, Jeff dedicated more than 48 years of service to Gradall Industries in New Philadelphia before retiring in 2013. He was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and the many friendships he built throughout his career.

Jeff was one of the beloved “Minnich Avenue kids,” a close-knit group of lifelong friends who remained connected from childhood through the years. He found great joy in following NASCAR, tending his vegetable and flower gardens, and spending time with those he loved.

As a young man, Jeff worked at the cotton candy stand at Tuscora Park, creating memories that would stay with him for a lifetime. Later, he and his friend Larry Chaney purchased a concession trailer and traveled to tractor pulls, fairs, and community events selling cotton candy, snow cones, and candied apples. Jeff often enlisted the help of his sister, too.

Jeff’s greatest joy came from the relationships he nurtured throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his beloved companion, Lisa Nelson, in 2020.

He is survived by his loving sister, Mary Jill (James “Ron”) McQuerrey of Marion, Ohio; numerous cousins; and many special friends whose love, friendship, and devoted care enriched Jeff’s life.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A brief memorial service, led by Brian Flood, will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia, where Jeff will be laid to rest beside his parents and Lisa.

Memorial contributions, in Jeff’s memory, may be directed to RTY, Inc. or Ohio’s Hospice.
