Jeffrey R. Leonard, 74, of Stone Creek, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 29, 2024, following a period of declining health.
Born in Canton on January 2, 1950, he was the son of the late Winton and Ruth Thalia (Rhodes) Leonard.
After completing his formal education at Tuscarawas Valley High School, Jeff served in a variety of professional roles with the former Union Camp, Arizona Chemical and Kraton where he retired after more than 45 years of service. His work friends fondly referred to him as “Spazz”, because he could multitask and “work circles” around other people.
Never one to sit idle long, Jeff loved to help others in need, even when they didn’t ask for help. He would comment that he wasn’t a people person but knew no stranger. Jeff took great enjoyment in making others laugh with a funny joke or quick-witted comment.
He also had a love for taking apart and putting back together anything and everything. To this day, he still owns his tractor that he assembled from scratch years ago. Jeff’s passion for mowing and riding his motorcycle were evident to all who knew him, too.
Jeff will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his daughters, Tammy (Bo) Tinlin, Heather (James) Maloon and Shauna (Mark) Shutt; his grandchildren, Jeff Reed, Jesse (Dani), Jett, Jayna, Jaret and Jack Tinlin, Hailey Maloon and Reed (Silas) Miller, and Hannah and Winton Hostetler; six great-grandchildren; three sisters; his former wife, Cathie Leonard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Saturday, August 3 from 11 to 1 p.m.
